STRONG BOY, DEAF BOY, AND A GIRL IN AN ABAYA

In celebration of the Philippine-Japanese Friendship Month, the PETA Theater Center and Japan Foundation Manila proudly present PETA's Strong Boy, Deaf Boy, and a Girl in an Abaya and Dora Theater's Ayanasu.  A twin-bill production about adversity, hope and triumph.

STRONG BOY,
DEAF BOY,
AND A GIRL
IN AN ABAYA
Written by Atty. Nicolas Pichay
Direction and Choreography by Dudz Teraña

This simple mobile production took center stage during the 4th World Congress of International Drama and Education Association (IDEA) in Bergen, Norway in July 2011.  It was then presented in Greece, Netherlands and France.

Thirteen years after, this production finds a new life and setting as children survivors of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) tragedy tell their stories of struggle so profound, only silence can express it.  Thus, this non-verbal production.

AYANASU (Woven)
Directed by Kenjiro Otani

Depicting a family's journey from disaster, loss to hope, Ayanasu is an improvised non-verbal performance.  Ayanasu literally means 'to weave', reflective of the creative process that the Dora Company underwent to produce this piece.  during the course of rehearsals, spontaneous vignettes were interwoven into a story of solitute, memory, and synchronicity.
