SYNOPSIS:
 A grandfather on the brink of bankruptcy brings his grandchildren back to the community that made and shaped him, only to find out the place is no longer the same.















FILMMAKER PROFILE:
CARLOS SIGUION-REYNA, film director, received his M.F.A. in film from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts (NYC). His NYU thesis film Patas Lang (Fair Exchange) was awarded in the narrative category of the 1989 Nissan FOCUS Awards. Twelve feature films, various short films and documentaries, television and stage works followed, some of which include the award winning and critically acclaimed Choices, Azucena (Dog Food), Kahapon May Dalawang Bata (Yesterday Children), Ang Lalaki sa Buhay ni Selya (The Man in Her Life), Aangkinin Ko ang Bukas (Tomorrow Will Be Mine), Ligaya ang Itawag Mo sa Akin (They Call Me Joy), Inagaw Mo ang Lahat sa Akin (Harvest Home), Ikaw Pa Lang ang Minahal, Hihintayin Kita sa Langit (I Will Wait for You in Heaven), Walang Sugat, Aawitan Kita, At All Costs, Bahay na Pula (Red House) and Payatas: Point Counterpoint. His films screened yearly from 1994 to 2000, at the Toronto International Film Festival. His works have also been shown at the Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater (New York City), the Directors’ Guild of America Theater (Los Angeles), and the international film festivals of Berlin, Tokyo, Chicago, Seattle, Sydney, Hawaii, Palm Springs, Paris, Valladolid, Shanghai, London Human Rights Watch, and Dublin, among others. He has received ten Best Director awards from principal film industry, press, and critics' organizations in the Philippines, and was selected one of The Outstanding Young Filipinos (TOYF) in the field of Arts/Cinema (1995). He served three terms as president of the Directors' Guild of the Philippines, Inc. (DGPI), and is a member of Nagkakaisang Manggagawa ng Pelikulang Pilipino (NMPP). He was member of the main competition jury of Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, in 2013. Siguion-Reyna has taught film direction at the University of the Philippines Film Institute’s film program and in short lectures/workshops for the Directors’ Guild of the Philippines, the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the Mowelfund Film Institute. In 2008, he joined the faculty of New York University Tisch School of the Arts Asia’s M.F.A. program in film, where he has since taught film directing, screenwriting, team collaboration in filmmaking, and music video. He is presently Head of Third Year Studies in the same graduate film program.
